Let's Encrypt is a free, automated, and open certificate authority (CA) that provides Transport Layer Security (TLS) certificates for websites. It was founded in 2016 by the Internet Security Research Group (ISRG) and is supported by major browser vendors, including Google, Mozilla, and Microsoft. Let's Encrypt's goal is to make it easier for website owners to secure their websites with TLS and thereby protect user data from eavesdropping and tampering.
