Organ transplantation is a surgical procedure that involves removing an organ from one person (the donor) and placing it into another person (the recipient). The most common organs that are transplanted are the kidney, liver, heart, and lungs. Organ transplantation can be a life-saving procedure for people who have end-stage organ failure.
