Homer is one of the most important and influential poets in Western literature. His works, the Iliad and the Odyssey, are epic poems that tell the stories of the Trojan War and Odysseus's journey home after the war. Homer's work is studied closely by students of literature, history, and culture, and is foundational to Western literature. It is important to note that much of what we know about ancient Greece comes from Homer, and his works are invaluable to those interested in learning more about this civilization.
