Understanding Launch Configurations
Launch Configurations allow you to to define and manage the configuration of Amazon EC2 instances that are launched by an Auto Scaling group. They provide you with a way to specify the instance type, operating system, and other settings that will be used when creating new instances. This allows you to define a standardized set of configurations that can be used across multiple Auto Scaling groups, ensuring that all instances in a group have the same basic settings.
Launch Configurations are created within an Auto Scaling group, and they can be attached to multiple groups if needed. This allows you to reuse the same configurations for different groups, which can simplify the management and maintenance of your infrastructure.
