Amazon Elastic File System

Amazon Elastic File System (Amazon EFS) is a fully managed cloud file system that provides easy-to-use, scalable, and performant file storage for use with Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) instances. It is designed to improve performance and simplify management of file storage for compute workloads with a need for shared access to a common file system.
How Does Amazon EFS Work?
Amazon EFS is a distributed file system that stores data in multiple Availability Zones to provide high availability and durability. It uses a shared nothing architecture, which means that data is not replicated across multiple servers. Instead, each server stores a portion of the data, and clients access the data through a single mount target. This architecture provides high performance and scalability, as it allows Amazon EFS to scale up to hundreds of thousands of IOPS and petabytes of data.
Amazon EFS is integrated with the Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (Amazon VPC) networking infrastructure, which provides secure and isolated networking for your Amazon EFS file systems. You can create file systems in specific VPCs and subnets, and control access to the file systems using security groups.
