FIFA World Cup, a quadrennial international football competition contested by the senior men's national teams of the members of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA). Since the establishment of the tournament in 1930, the FIFA World Cup has been won by eight different national teams. Brazil, Germany, and Italy are the most successful nations in the history of the tournament, each having won the trophy five times.

History of the FIFA World Cup

The first FIFA World Cup tournament was held in Uruguay in 1930, and it was won by the host nation. The tournament was a success and was followed by another tournament in Italy in 1934 and in France in 1938. The tournament was not held during World War II and resumed in 1950 in Brazil. Since then, the tournament has been held every four years, with the exception of 1942 and 1946.
