Machine translation (MT) is a sub-field of artificial intelligence and computational linguistics concerned with developing computer programs that can efficiently translate text or spoken input from one natural language to another. A machine translation (MT) system typically consists of two components: a translation model that maps input text in one language to text in another language, and a language model that assigns probabilities to sequences of words. The translation model is used to generate a translation of the input text, while the language model is used to select the most probable translation. MT systems can be either rule-based or statistical. Rule-based MT systems use a set of linguistic rules to translate text. Statistical MT systems use statistical models to estimate the probability of each possible translation. The most common type of statistical MT system is phrase-based MT, which translates text by breaking it up into phrases and then translating each phrase individually. Amazon Translate is a phrase-based MT system that is developed by Amazon Web Services (AWS). Amazon Translate is a cloud-based service that allows users to translate text between over 100 languages. Amazon Translate is used by businesses and individuals to translate websites, documents, and other content.
