It is a detailed acount of how the global financial crisis came about, starting with the housing crisis (including sub-prime) and the global savings glut.

I am working on understanding the Global Financial Crisis.

Good and clear explanation on Global Financial Crisis by Prof. Metrick which was supplemented by the perspective of former Secretary of the Treasury Timothy Geithner.

Hope, once I'll have an opportunity to attend Mr. Geithner and Mr. Metrics lectures and seminars and/or Yale university other real life courses brief and clear, informative and easy to understand This is an excellent history class on the recent housing collapse and financial crisis, but it also does a masterful job of succinctly and clearly explaining/illustrating the underlying causes of the entire global financial crisis, as well as to the individual events throughout the multi year ordeal.

It will help you grasp the complexity of the structural issues that triggered the Global Financial Crisis, which rocked the world.

I personally searched various parts of the internet to learn about the Global Financial Crisis, but none was as informative and EVIDENCE BASED as this course.

timothy geithner

Just want to add that although Timothy Geithner is the headliner, he only made an appearance in 3 of 11 weeks.

The faculty is engaging and the insights from Timothy Geithner are valuable and first hand.

I would suggest you complement it by reading some of the many books that have been written about it, say, "Too Big to Fail" (Andrew Ross Sorkin), "The Big Short" (Michael Lewis) and, of course, "Stress Test" (Timothy Geithner).

THANK YOU YALE UNIVERSITY, THANK YOU ANDREW METRICK, THANK YOU TIMOTHY GEITHNER.

Timothy Geithner himself explains a module which was extremely helpful.

financial system

It continues with how the anxiety started and spread through the global financial system, turning in to a full-blown panic.

Very informative and thorough, with a good overview of relevant topics very structured course, you learn something above and beyond the financial crisis - you learn something about the whole financial system.

E This was an excellent insight into the key structures of the financial system leading to the 2007/08 crisis explaining how financial innovations in the shadow banking sector created systemic risk via runnable funding.

?c) It is obvious to anyone with even trivial financial expertise that the financial system today is weaker than it was before the crisis.

The collapse of the global financial system led to a severe downtown of global economies.

Professor Metrick is awesome.

The fact that the course is taught by Professor Metrick and Secretary Geithner gives one more reason to enroll.

What I did not like were last 2 lessons by Secretary Geithner, which I found very general and in contract to the detailed slides of Professor Metrick.

Brilliantly well-presented and enlightening course.Teaches a lot more than the Global Financial Crisis Wonderful course and Professor Metrick teaching was awesome.
