From Blockchain to Decision Substrate

Blockchain technology inverted the relationship between services and data. It allowed partners of all sizes to participate in a shared public interchange of information, rather than integrating with one central gatekeeper. Unfortunately, this power comes at a cost. The technical demands of proof-of-work and the complexities of smart contracts throw barriers between innovators and potential opportunities. Immutable architectures achieve the benefits of blockchain without the cost and complexity. They provide a blueprint for a business decision infrastructure upon which independent business units can collaborate. I will show you how to construct this decision substrate within your own organization. It provides the same democratic participation in business exchanges as blockchain, but is far more sustainable and scalable. Business units that iterate and innovate can compete to provide better services to their host organizations. The company as a whole gains an advantage from their ability to rapidly respond to market changes. They can then selectively and securely open parts of the decision substrate to other organizations, achieving the promise of blockchain without the cost.
