本书对中国风景概念发生发展的论证，主要通过以下两部分展开：第一部分（第一章）主要通过风景概念相关语词的分析研究，论证当代风景园林专业以“风景”语词表述风景概念的合理性；第二部分（第二章至第四章）主要通过相关案例、文献及史实的研究，深度阐释风景概念在不同历史时期的发生、发展状态。
