Dr. Strangelove is one of the boldest anti-war statements of all time--a darkly satirical vision of the Cold War & of military prowess lethally fueled by human stupidity. The novel's characters are indelible: the commie-hating, redneck pilot, Major Kong; the wildly paranoiac, nuclear-assault launching General Ripper; &, of course, Dr. Strangelove, the sinister, wheelchair-bound, ex-Nazi scientist, for whom world destruction is the only bang big enough to satisfy. Peter George co-wrote the screenplay for Dr. Strangelove with Terry Southern & Stanley Kubrick, who directed the celebrated film.
