HVAC inspectors are responsible ensuring air-conditioning, heating, ventilation, and refrigeration systems are installed correctly, operate properly, and are maintained according to code. They inspect a variety of HVAC systems, including residential, commercial, and industrial systems, and may specialize in a particular type of system, such as refrigeration systems or commercial HVAC systems.

Responsibilities

HVAC inspectors typically perform the following tasks:

  • Inspect HVAC systems to ensure they are installed correctly and in compliance with building codes and regulations
  • Test and evaluate HVAC systems to ensure they are operating properly and efficiently
  • Identify and troubleshoot problems with HVAC systems
  • Write reports detailing their findings and recommendations for repairs or improvements
  • May also perform maintenance on HVAC systems
