What Do Drivers Do?

  • Maintaining vehicles and keeping them clean
  • Completing paperwork and logs

Drivers may also be responsible for loading and unloading cargo, collecting fares, and making deliveries.

How to Become a Driver

The requirements to become a driver can vary depending on the type of vehicle you operate and the industry you work in. However, most drivers must meet the following requirements:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Have a valid driver's license
  • Have a clean driving record
  • Pass a background check
  • Complete a training program

Some drivers may also need to obtain a commercial driver's license (CDL). CDLs are required for drivers who operate vehicles that weigh more than 26,000 pounds or that transport hazardous materials.
