Obesity Researcher
Obesity is a complex disease involving environmental, genetic, physiological, behavioral, and socioeconomic factors. Obesity researchers aim to understand the causes and consequences of obesity, evaluate interventions to prevent and treat obesity, and develop policies to promote healthy weight management. Obesity Research Careers
There are several career paths available to obesity researchers. Some obesity researchers work in academia, teaching and conducting research at universities or medical centers. Others work in government agencies, such as the National Institutes of Health (NIH) or the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), where they conduct research and develop public health policies. Still others work in industry, for companies that develop and market obesity-related products and services. With experience, obesity researchers may advance to leadership positions, such as principal investigator, research director, or department chair.
