Nursing Administrator
Job Duties
Nursing Administrators may perform various duties, such as:
- Managing and directing nursing staff
- Planning and coordinating patient care
- Developing and implementing nursing policies and procedures
- Budgeting and managing financial resources
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory standards
Education and Training
Most Nursing Administrators have a bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) or a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with a focus on administration or leadership. Some may also have a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP).
Many Nursing Administrators also obtain certification from professional organizations, such as the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE).
