Science Historian
Science Historians research and analyze the history of science and technology. They examine how scientific and technological discoveries have shaped our world and how they have been influenced by social, cultural, and political factors. Science Historians may specialize in a particular period of history or a particular field of science. They may work in academia, museums, or research institutions.
Job Duties
Science Historians typically perform the following duties:
- Research and analyze the history of science and technology
- Write books, articles, and other publications on their research
- Teach courses on the history of science and technology
- Give lectures and presentations on their research
- Curate exhibits on the history of science and technology
- Advise museums, libraries, and other institutions on the acquisition and preservation of scientific and technological artifacts
- Work with scientists and engineers to develop new historical perspectives on scientific and technological developments
Education and Training
Science Historians typically have a PhD in the history of science or a related field. They may also have a background in science or engineering. Some Science Historians also have a law degree.
