Jazz Musician
Jazz musicians are musicians who play jazz music, a genre that originated in the African-American community in New Orleans in the early 20th century. Jazz is characterized by its use of improvisation, syncopation, and polyrhythms, and it has been influential in the development of many other genres of music, including rock and roll, rhythm and blues, and hip hop.
Becoming a Jazz Musician
There is no one-size-fits-all path to becoming a jazz musician. Some jazz musicians start by learning to play a traditional instrument, such as the saxophone, trumpet, or piano, and then later learn to improvise. Others start by learning to improvise on a non-traditional instrument, such as the didgeridoo or the electric guitar. No matter how you get started, the most important thing is to practice regularly and to listen to as much jazz music as you can.
