ELL Program Coordinator
The ELL Program Coordinator is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing educational programs and services for English Language Learners (ELLs) in K-12 schools or adult education programs. They work closely with teachers, administrators, and parents to ensure that ELLs have the resources and support they need to succeed academically and socially.
Responsibilities
The ELL Program Coordinator is responsible for a wide range of tasks, including:
- Developing and implementing curriculum and instructional materials for ELLs
- Providing professional development for teachers on how to teach ELLs
- Assessing the needs of ELLs and developing individualized learning plans
- Monitoring the progress of ELLs and making necessary adjustments to their learning plans
- Collaborating with other school staff, including teachers, administrators, and counselors, to ensure that ELLs have access to the resources and support they need
- Advocating for the needs of ELLs at the school, district, and state levels
Education and Experience
The ELL Program Coordinator typically has a master's degree in education, linguistics, or a related field. They also have experience working with ELLs in a school or adult education setting. In some cases, a bachelor's degree in education or a related field may be acceptable, but additional experience working with ELLs will be required.
Skills and Knowledge
The ELL Program Coordinator should have a strong understanding of the principles of second language acquisition and the challenges that ELLs face. They should also be proficient in English and the native language of the ELLs they serve. Other important skills and knowledge include:
