Procurement & Sourcing Introduction

After a warm welcome to the Global Procurement and Sourcing Specialization, I will provide a brief introduction to the specialization and its courses. The introduction covers instructor biography, target audience, and course flow. Students will then learn about current challenges facing procurement and sourcing professionals through reading ten articles. A brief assessment will follow to test knowledge gained from these articles.

Procurement Basics

This course covers the basics of procurement, including the role of the procurement organization, cost vs. value, and processes like RFQ, RFP, and RFX. It also covers direct and indirect procurement and stakeholder management. The course includes videos, readings, and a case study with peer review. There is also a practice assessment and a final assessment required for certification.

Strategic Sourcing

This course provides a detailed overview of a Strategic Sourcing Process, covering 7 steps: profiling the category, developing a category sourcing strategy, generating a supplier profile, choosing competitive selection or supplier development, selecting and negotiating with suppliers, implementing, and continuous improvement/supplier relationship management. Learning is supported by videos, readings, and a required case with peer review.

Supplier Management

This course covers Supplier Selection and Evaluation, Contract Management, Quality & Risk Management, and Ethics. One of the important decisions that a Procurement professional makes is selecting the right supplier.

Supply Market Analysis

In this course, you will learn seven tools to evaluate supply markets from a strategic to operational level. These tools will help you develop the right strategies, reduce risks, and make the right supplier decisions.

Procurement Negotiation

This course teaches the negotiation skills needed to succeed. We will cover the negotiation process, how to set objectives, gather facts, develop a plan, learn your negotiation style, use and counter tactics, understand the difference between positions and interests, and what to do after the negotiation is complete. This course will be supported by video, readings, a personal style survey, a podcast, and a required "mock" negotiation with a Peer group assessment.

Strategic Procurement and Sourcing Conclusions

This final course in the Global Procurement and Sourcing Specialization covers three things: future of Strategic Procurement and Sourcing, a complete wrap-up and key takeaways for all courses, and a Required Final Assessment.
