What's inside

Four courses

Introduction to GIS Mapping

Get started with geographic information systems (GIS)! Learn what a GIS is, how to use the software, and how to represent real-world features on a map. You'll also learn how to record locations using coordinates and create a two-dimensional map from a three-dimensional Earth. In the course project, you'll create your own GIS data by tracing geographic features from a satellite image.

GIS Data Acquisition and Map Design

In this course, you will learn the basics of GIS data acquisition and map design. You will learn how to find GIS data, evaluate its quality, and prepare it for use in a GIS project. You will also learn how to create well-designed maps that effectively communicate your message.

Spatial Analysis and Satellite Imagery in a GIS

In this course, you will learn to analyze map data to answer geographic questions. You will learn to filter data, find spatial relationships, and use ModelBuilder. You will also learn to find, understand, and use remotely sensed data such as satellite imagery. Finally, you will complete your own project.

GIS, Mapping, and Spatial Analysis Capstone

In this capstone course, you will apply your GIS knowledge by designing and completing your own project. You will plan your project, find data, perform analysis, create maps, and assemble your results into an Esri story map. The goal is for you to have a finished product that you can share and that demonstrates your learning.
