About this Track
WordPress is one of the quickest and most popular ways to build a dynamic website. Since its debut in 2003, WordPress has become so popular that nearly 75-million websites all around the world are powered by it, which makes up almost 20% of the internet. Also, because it’s an open-source platform, it has millions of themes and plugins available for anyone to use — most of which are completely free and easily customizable for your website. This track will start with a quick overview of WordPress itself then show you how to install a local development environment to work with WordPress on your own computer. After creating your first WordPress site, we'll show you how to migrate that site to a live hosting provider. Using a local development environment will allow you to learn WordPress without having to pay for hosting, and also allow you to test changes without being concerned about breaking a visitor facing site.
