What's inside

Four courses

Basic Elements of Design: Design Principles and Software Overview

Designing for an organization requires more than technical skill. A designer is a visual storyteller who pairs words with images and typography to convey information to an audience. Good design evokes emotion and presents information with clarity and the proper tone. Content that is well-designed is more inviting, more easily comprehensible, and faster to process. Design isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s also about content, layout, and audience analysis.

Graphic Elements of Design: Color Theory and Image Formats

Examining and exploring the various types of images and graphic elements will be the focus of this course. We will start with color theory to distinguish between CMYK, Pantone and RGB color options and their usages. Then we will review the various types of images used in both print and digital design projects.

Textual Elements of Design: Fonts, Typography, and Spacing

(0 hours)
Graphic design uses images and text to tell a story. This course focuses on the textual elements of graphic design, including the history of typography, the difference between type, fonts and text, and typography spacing. Students will learn how to select the best type and combinations of fonts to convey their message in a visually pleasing manner.

Print and Digital Elements of Design: Branding and User Experience

(0 hours)
Graphic design projects can be delivered in print or digital formats, or both. This course explores how to collaborate with creative professionals to optimize designs for both print (e.g., logos, brochures) and digital (e.g., websites, social media). It also covers user experience and its importance in creative endeavors.
