5/5 stars and I recommend it with my whole heart"

Do you LOVE listening to music, and especially to songs with guitars in them?

Did you always wish to be able to play your favorite songs by yourself? (perhaps while singing along as well?)

Are you tired of long winded YouTube lessons and Udemy courses that get you nowhere? Or maybe you've been playing for some time, but the songs you play still don't sound good and seem like a lot of work?

Did you ever think that you're just "not musical" and won't be able to do this?

Well, I have exactly what you're looking for, and you're gonna love it. So if you love music - read on.

My name is Alon Cooper, I am a professional musician and the founder of GuitarSongsMasters-com, one of the world's top five most read guitar blogs. (* source) I learned guitar by myself, and I am here to help you do it too, while solving a MAJOR problem in the music teaching world:

90% of the people who start playing the guitar - quit it within a year. ( source)

That's a shame to hear, but I know EXACTLY why this happens - and I worked hard to get the solution for you.

The Reason: Most teachers (online and offline) focus on too much fluff and don't really consider the player's wants and needs. Most lessons' final goals are too vague, too long winded, and lack a focus and understanding of what most people are really after - which is simply to play the songs that THEY love - out of their own hands.

NOT playing boring scales. NOT playing some useless, generic melodies. NOT to have a 70 minutes lecture on what's a guitar strap.

Forget that. I am here to give you the QUICK RESULTS.

"An awesome course on guitar. I play acoustic but never went through a conventional guitar lesson or never took any lesson from a guitarist. I have learnt a lot of things that have halted my growth as a guitarist. There're some great valuable insights & tips that beginners can use and avoid training in the wrong way. The lessons and his playing is very clean. I have seen very few people play that clean and his equipments are amazing. Very clean playing and precise tutorials. You won't waste your time taking lessons from his courses." Khan Sami, India.

Why should you listen to me?

Hi, my name is Alon Cooper. I am a music artist, touring the world while running my online teaching business, playing venues with a band / solo, and learning with the most inspiring musicians wherever I go. In the last 8 years I've spent long periods in Australia, northern Europe, the USA, Sri Lanka, and more. Originally I am from Tel Aviv, Israel.

I hope I can be your helpful friend on your musical journey.

I have a huge passion for passing on my knowledge and seeing others succeed. In 2014 I founded the blog GuitarSongsMasters-com, and shortly after also created the accompanying Guitar Songs Masters video courses - that have gained over 100K students so far.

Remember - I don't want you to pay for the lessons only to quit after two months. My mission is to get you to pick up the guitar and develop that PASSION and motivation that will keep driving you to make music for the rest of your life.

Why shouldn't I take another course or just watch free YouTube lessons?

    Two reasons:

    1) Your time is valuable, and trying to learn your way through random lessons on random guitar topics (instead of using a systematic, logical and proven approach) will never get you as far as a systematic method. Even more, using random YouTube lessons will make it way more likely that you'll quit the guitar.

    2) I understand you. Just like how I learned independently how to play the guitar - I know your wants and needs - and I am here to shortcut your way to the success which is playing all of your beloved songs. I built this course as the DREAM GUIDE for independent learners that I wish I had at the time - and could have saved me literally thousands of hours of struggling around before I found and developed those shortcuts and methods myself.

Can't wait to hear your stories after you'll be successfully jammin' all of your songs with your friends.

    Cheers,

    -Alon

    Syllabus

Understand the key principle behind our course, and understand how the course works.

In this introductory video I will introduce you to the concept of the course - The 7 Keys to Successfully Teaching Yourself the Guitar. The first key is all about one simple thing: the understanding that playing ANY song on the guitar comes down to just two simple ingredients.

Also, this lesson will provide an intro to the different keys that are ahead.

This chart will show you the most common chords that you're going to need, I highly recommend printing it and placing it where you usually play your guitar.

This will be our first real lesson on the guitar, where we will learn our first two chords that we are going to use for our first songs: the E chord and the A chord.

We will learn how to play any chord with a clean, full sound, and we will get you ready to play your first three songs on the guitar.

Important reminder - you can slow down the video's playback speed by clicking on the X1 at the bottom left part of the screen.

Our first song will be this great song by Buffalo Springfield. if you don't know it, I highly recommend checking it out on YouTube before the lesson - it will make it much easier for you.

Our second song will be this 1969 classic by The Rolling Stones - You Can't Always Get What You Want.

Cool 90's Rap-Rock straight from California. A one-of-a-kind campfire sing along.

This lesson will provide an introduction to tuning the guitar. It is optional but very recommended even if you already have a favorite tuning app by now.

In this lesson I will teach you how to properly sit with the guitar in order to play in a comfortable way.

Also, we will learn about the different parts of the guitar - what they do and how they're named.

In this lesson you will learn where and how to find the most reliable chord charts for your favorite songs. (important - because there's a lot of wrong charts out there)

Also, I will show you some of my own DIY chord books and teach you how you can create your own as well. (the more detailed explanation about the DIY creation is in the next article on the GuitarHippies website)

    This'll help you a lot!

See the attached PDF for all the good stuff!

    -Enjoy

Using those 2 hacks that I discovered over the years, you will learn how to play new chords and enrich your chords vocabulary, which in turn will enable you to play a lot more songs.

Did you know that just 4-5 chords are enough to easily play hundreds and even thousands of songs? (G-D-Em-C for example) So just imagine what happens when you will know 10-15 chords... AMAZING!

Even though we started with an E and an A chords, these are the other ones you should learn after them, since they'll literally "open up" the biggest number of songs for you to play.

    Details inside.

Your fingernails length is important to your comfort and (sometimes) to your sound when playing guitar. In this post I'll show you how to take good care of them.

The most important key to playing songs fluently is to be able to switch between chords without even thinking about it. The knowledge I share in this next lesson is something I seriously consider as pure gold. When a friend told me about this exercise, it blew me away and got me to playing fluently VERY fast.

Do this on the few basic chords that make up 90% of the chords you generally use: G, D, Dm, E, Em, A, Am, C, F and all the possible transitions between them - and you will be playing almost any song like a champ.

    Yes!

The strumming pattern is derived from the rhythm of the song, and when you can listen to a song and easily figure out the correct strumming pattern based on its sound (which is what you'll learn now) - you'll always sound good and you'll be able to accomodate to any new song.

This strumming pattern alone will open up a huge number of songs for you.

Up until now I told you to use whatever feels right for you at the moment, either a pick or your fingernails.

In this lesson I will give you an introduction to those two, which are your two common options to playing the guitar.

With each one of them there will be an overview of it, and also some solid tips on how to get started with it.

6 cool guitar strumming patterns you can implement in different songs for different feelings.

In this lesson I will teach what I consider as the most important key in order to have a professional, steady sound - which is simply "paying attention to the beat" (and understanding how the beat works)

I will also show you how to practice your sense of rhythm in a very fun way - with an app that acts as your own personal drummer.

This lesson is absolutely critical if you want to sound good - don't skip it.

Part 2 of the lesson is also super fun and will teach you how to give you own rhythmic twist to a song.

In this lesson I will show you how you can use the Drum Beats+ app in order to give your favorite songs a groovy twist and make them "your own". Guaranteed fun.

Boost the #1 important skill to getting that "pro" sound: solid time-keeping.

When you'll start playing a small percussion instrument (just in front of a recording, or if you jam with friends while playing some percussion it's even better) - your time keeping skills on the guitar will rise to new levels.

I highly recommend you to do that.

In this article from GuitarHippies, I recommend some small (and mostly cheap) percussion instruments to begin with.

This is the final lecture of the first part of the course, where you will be reminded of what you've learned throughout the first 7 keys.

In this lesson I will share with you my tips for how to get the most out of each practice session - highly recommended.

    IMPORTANT WATCH!

In this video I show you how I play 50 different famous guitar riffs and intros - on a unique type of guitar - the 12 string guitar.

This video will show you how some of the most famous riffs that you easily recognize actually look like on the fretboard. I hope you will find this inspiring and you will try to learn some of those riffs yourself.

The 12 string guitar has a "twin string" for each of its strings. In the bottom two strings the twin string is identical, and in the upper four strings, the twin string is a thinner string that is tuned one octave higher.

This gives the 12 string guitar its shiny, metallic sound. (which I ABSOLUTELY love)

Known for using a lot of 12 string in their recordings: Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, David Bowie, The Eagles and more.

This one's a super fun lesson where I introduce you to 14 different ways and techniques to move your guitar skills to the next level.

Check out the attached PDF to further research any of the techniques that you like.

My goal here was to arouse some interest in you in more advanced guitar topics after you will already have the basics nailed down and you can play a song in a solid fashion.

Your musicality is your general skills with music, and they are relevant to any instrument that you'll choose to pick up besides the guitar.

In this lesson I will show you different fun ways to boost your musicality.

See the attached PDF for links to all the good stuff that I promised you in the Musicality video lesson.

Slides, Hammer Ons, Bends, Pull Offs, Vibratos. You won't find any guitar solo that does not feature at least some of those. These are the 5 techniques that make your guitar playing sound EXPRESSIVE. Use them to your advantage.

In the attached PDF you'll find links to great lessons about each one of those techniques.

In this lesson I will show you how to work with a guitar capo, and also show you two ideas for cool things that you can do with it.

Some tips on how to get the most of of the twelver beasts!

A helpful trick that you have to know before messing around with guitar chord sites.

Do you know that one chord that sounds like the perfect ending of a song? Here's how to always find it easily.

That's how you should set you strap's length.

This lesson wll teach you what you need to know about metronomes - a great way to improve your time keeping skills.

A huge rule of thumb I always go by, especially when choosing a guitar teacher I wanna take lessons with in the real world.

If a guitar player you know (or YOU!) has a birthday soon, or you're looking for a very cool holiday gift - here are some very cool ideas.

If you play while you standing up than this lil' trick will help you, and it took me a very long time to find it out - so I'll save you the time.

If the F chord is giving you some trouble, so first I recommend watching the lesson here about "6 Ways to Easily Conquer Any BARRE Chord", but I also want to show you an easier chord you can use instead of F in the meantime.

Have you heard of "The F Barrier"? Many beginners stop playing the guitar as they reach the first barre chord - the F chord. They think it's too hard.

In this lesson I will show you that barre chords are actually not scary at all when you approach them correctly. 6 tips that will make your life much easier. Enjoy.

Playing percussion can be very beneficial to your time keeping skills, so here I'll give you examples of some very cool percussion instruments you can purchase.

This lesson will answer 2 popular questions of beginners:

    1. Which guitar should I get - acoustic, electric or classical?
    2. Once I decide which type of guitar, WHICH EXACT MODEL should I go for?

Another fun way to spice up your song playing.

    Cool lesson.

This technique is something very useful for when you're already feelin' comfortable with playing songs.

A toolbox of the techniques that'll give you the most "bang for your time". Arpeggios is the first one, check out the rest!

Super important watch if you want to have fun playing your guitar.

6 cool ways to add some "bling" to your guitar. This is not just cosmetics, it WILL make you want to play the guitar more often!

Here I share my favorite guitar accessories. Learn from my mistakes, avoid the bad gear (and there's plenty) and stick to the good ones.

String lubricants - the most bang for your buck in terms of making your guitar easier to play.

If you play the electric guitar - this is my best purchase ever. It's a micro amp that actually sounds amazing and I take around with me to wherever I go. FUN.
