Syllabus

Students will learn how to build their own fully automated online storefront step-by-step using open source software.

I explain the purpose of the course - To set up an online store that generates passive income. This is accomplished by partnering with a merchandise order fulfillment company.

In this video, I teach students how to find the best deals on web hosting - the link is http://one.me/enahqtlf and using this method can save your business lots of money on hosting, business email, security certificates, etc. any domain name of your choice is included - this is optional, you can use any hosting that includes one-click wordpress install. This is just my recommended method if you don't already have web hosting.

I show students how to get their domain name and hosting all set up and good to go before building the e-Commerce store.

In this lecture, I teach students how to set up professional email accounts for their businesses. I go through adding new accounts, forwarding email, and creating multiple accounts for separate purposes.. I show users how to log into their separate email accounts, how to personalize their settings, how to add a signature, how to write mail, add attachments, and send mail.

In this lecture, I show students how to install WordPress - the biggest and best CMS (Content Management System) in the world. I discuss sub-domains and when they would be a good option. I walk through the WordPress setup process and I talk about the WordPress dashboard. I show students what the default WordPress install looks like on the front end and back end of the website.

I show students how to install a new plugin in WordPress. I show students the WooCommerce setup process, and I show students the WooCommerce settings and discuss various options for their e-Commerce system.

Students learn the process of setting up a new Printful store, and how to configure their permalinks in WordPress. I show students how to connect their WooCommerce store to their Printful account. I show students how to connect their payment methods to Printful. I discuss how payments work and how money flows within the Wordpress + WooCommerce + Printful system.

Students are taught how to configure a merchandise product on Printful. I use a program called Paint.net to create a custom product design. Students learn about image resolution and format for print. DPI (Dots Per Inch) is discussed. I walk through an example workflow of creating a custom merchandise design. I discuss layering in image editors. I discuss best practices for creating for-print images. I talk about why PNG is a great format to use. I show students how to upload their design to Printful and apply it to merchandise. I talk about why JPEG is a good format for product images on websites. I discuss colors and sizing. I discuss product titles, descriptions, and pricing. I show students how to upload products to their WooCommerce store, and I show students how their product looks on their new WooCommerce storefront.

Students are shown how to further integrate Printful with WooCommerce by installing the "Printful Integration for WooComemrce" plugin and configuring the settings correctly. Students are shown how to include a custom brand sticker with their merchandise packages, and how to enable Printful's shipping system on their store. Basic debugging and quality assurance testing is discussed. Students learn how to configure shipping options and learn how money moves through the system.

Students are taught how to log in to their WordPress website by going to theirurl.com/wp-admin. Students are shown how to add a new theme to their WordPress website, the process of customizing a new WordPress theme, and how to upload their logo and favicon to their website. Students are shown the complexities of saving a JPEG image for web, and the importance of a small file size on websites is discussed. Students are also shown how to set up their own sidebar with their widgets.

This lecture teaches students how to add and build new pages for their website. We construct a custom homepage for our WooCommerce store. We learn how to use WordPress' visual editor. We learn about "Lorem Ipsum" which is filler or dummy content frequently used in design. We learn about WooCommerce shortcodes and how to use them in your website. Students learn how to add a large number of products to their shop very quickly. Students are taught how to configure featured products and display them on the homepage, and students are taught how to fully build and customize their homepage.

In this lecture students will learn how to add additional pages and structure a menu for their website, add pictures and links to their website. Students see a final walk-through of the finished website and become familiar with many of the features. Students learn how to get a sample merchandise order delivered to their location for a discounted price and learn how to secure their site by installing a security plugin that prevents hacking and malware.
