Testing and calibration laboratories play important role is assuring quality of any product / service. ISO/IEC 17025:2017 provides guidelines for competence of laboratory. Once your laboratory complies with the requirements, it can be accredited by third party accreditation agency through Mutual recognition agreement; hence your results are globally accepted. This course will give guidelines to personnel working in test or calibration lab so as to achieve the accreditation. This helps in improving accuracy and reliability of results of your laboratory. Organizations supplying their products globally expect their products to be accepted globally without any hurdle. For this to happen it is importnat that the product is certified by third party lab whose accreditation is accepted globally through mutual recognition agreement. For calibration laboratories it is importnat to provide unbroken chain of traceability of it's measurements till international standards. guidelines for these are set through The standard has been developed jointly by International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). Mutual recognition agreement can be obtained if laboratory is accredited by accreditation body who is part of International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) or area specific cooperation bodies. Please note Hence proving technical competence of lab is important to achieve accreditation. Competence of lab depends on it's personnel, equipment, reference materials used, test / calibration methods followed. Hence for any lab willing to achieve this accreditation it is important to select appropriate test / calibration methods. If those are not as per available international standards, method shall first be validated. Test / calibration equipment accuracy need to be established with respect to expected accuracy of results. Personnel with appropriate educational qualification and working experience (regarding test / calibration methods) are key for competency of laboratory. Estimation/ control of measurement uncertainty and achieving satisfactory performance in proficiency testing program are achievable if all these factors including lab work environment are controlled. This course will help candidates to understand ways to achieve the same.
