The New Engineering Contract (NEC) provides suites of standard forms of procurement processes and main contracts in construction. The first edition of these contracts fell under the umbrella name “NEC” in 1993. Subsequently is evolved into “NEC 2” in 1995, “NEC3” in 2005 and most recently “NEC 4” in 2017. NEC aims to fill some of the gaps found in prior used contracts by emphasising a collaborative approach to project stakeholders.
