Are you a complete beginner when it comes to EFT Tapping? If so, watch this quick video as an introduction.

EFT Tapping is a super simple but profoundly effective technique for quickly rewiring your brain and facilitating profound and dramatic life changes. Known as a combination of western psychotherapy and ancient Chinese medicine, EFT Tapping is an invaluable tool for stress release and weight-loss.

As well, you can download the ebooklet called A Beginner's Guide to EFT Tapping.

If you're already familiar with EFT Tapping, then just move on to the next section.

Put on some stretchy clothes and join me in my yoga studio for a class that focuses on healing your pancreas and reversing insulin resistance.

Ok, put on your big girl woo woo pants, because we’re going to dive deeper into the mind-body-spirit connection.

Your emotions and physical body are irrevocably intertwined. The organs of your physical body are connected to your nervous system, which is connected to your subconscious as well as to your chakra system.

The physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of you are not, and cannot, be separated – in the same way that when you cry tears they cannot be separated from feelings like sadness. Your physical body reflects your emotional and spiritual state. Your physical body is a manifestation of your emotional and spiritual self.

So, what of the organs involved with insulin resistance? The pancreas is the primary organ, this is the organ that produces endless amounts of insulin in an effort to bring blood sugar levels back to safe levels.

In her book, The Secret language of Your Body by Inna Segal, she writes that people with Type 2 Diabetes may have a fear of fully participating in life. They have a great need to control and to know things, a deep need for attention and approval. As well they have a constant craving for love paired with a belief that they are unworthy or undeserving of this love. There can be deep-seated guilt. The belief that you have to struggle to survive, which can be inherited from ancestors. This constant need for sweetness is to mask feelings of weakness, limitation and the belief that there is not enough. You may be stuck in your own world of limitation and lack.

In her book, Metaphysical Anatomy, Yvette Rose says that, when the pancreas is affected, it normally means that there was some sort of betrayal in the family.

The body’s inability to use insulin effectively can represent that there was conflict between parents or caregivers, which left this person confused and stressed as a child over who to believe and whose side to take. There can also be feelings of stress from feeling out of control and, as a child, this person may have been overwhelmed with responsibility and ultimately there is an unmet need for loving and nurturing.

This unmet need for loving and nurturing is particularly relevant because cravings for carbohydrates can be a subconscious yearning for love. That’s not to say your parents weren’t loving in their own way but perhaps this love or approval came with conditions. For example, being a good girl. Whatever it was, as children we absorb the belief that we have to act a certain way or be something or achieve something… then we learn that we must work for love. We are not loved unconditionally, voila, we have an unmet need for unconditional love and nurturing – like the type we got when we were first born.

And so we use sugary-fatty foods to make us feel loved. We have been hard-wired this way.

So, experiences and learnings to take from conditions like insulin resistance and diabetes are:

* Learning to have healthy boundaries

* Not to tolerate people’s aggression and even abusive behaviour towards you (this could relate to experiences from the past)

* To feel safe not being in control and knowing it’s ok to not always be in control

In this video, we will do an energy healing exercise on your pancreas.

In her book, The Secret Language of your Body, Inna Segal writes that problems with the pancreas can stem from an inability to savour the sweetness in life.

As well, it can reflect a person who feels smothered, or over-mothered, or under-nurtured. Pancreas problems can develop in a person who is over-concerned, who feels hopeless or helpless, and out of control. People can feel easily affected by others, so perhaps they take criticism to heart, they may have low self-esteem, feelings of bitterness and confusion, unfairness and injustice. It comes with craving sugar, sweetness and softness. Often looking for quick fixes and then experiencing disappointment.

This energy exercise is aimed at acknowledging our hurt and pain and healing from it. This is how we will ultimately no longer need to turn to sugars and carbs for comfort.

One of the reasons many of us walk this earth with an ever-present but very low level of stress in our systems can be the result of a challenging childhood.

If we were made to feel like we had to earn our parents’ love and approval in some way, for example, by always getting top marks in school, or by being pretty, or by doing well in sports… we can form subconscious beliefs about love being conditional. We come to believe that we’re never quite good enough, always having to prove ourselves.

This gets worse if we had a parent or guardian who was critical or judgmental, who was always finding fault.

Growing up in this kind of environment, we can form subconscious beliefs about always being under attack, never being good enough, never being able to relax, always being scrutinised, judged, weighed and measured… and so you’re constantly in a low grade stress response.

How does your body react? By storing fat on your body.

So many of us are walking around with the subconscious and false belief that we are not good enough, that we need to try harder, we need to prove something, that we are simply not quite up to scratch, that we have to strive to earn approval and love… these are the kind of subconscious beliefs that play in the background of our lives, they suck the joy and sweetness from life… and so we turn to substances like sugar (and alcohol, drugs, gambling, shopping, Netflix…) to add some joy back in. We can’t find the joy inside of ourselves so we look outwards to find it.

This tapping script is aimed at recognising that and beginning the process of dismantling it.
