The growing demand for resources such as water and energy highlights the importance of being sustainable in water services. The course introduces the main concepts for the analysis of drinking water supply systems under the sustainability approach. The QATIUM tool will be used in its free version, as it is a novel and easy to use alternative. The student will develop in the first introductory topic basic concepts related to the water industry, its integration with the SDGs and climate change. The second unit will develop concepts around water use efficiency in cities, water balance, losses and demand management. The third unit will address energy efficiency in the water sector, water-energy nexus, energy efficiency, pumping and pressure. Finally, in Unit 4, a series of practical exercises are presented that include and expand on the concepts previously discussed.
