What Is Bowen Therapy?

Bowen Therapy, developed by the late Tom Bowen of Geelong, Victoria, is one of the fastest-growing natural therapies worldwide.

This gentle, hands-on technique targets the fascia—a three-dimensional connective tissue web that surrounds every nerve, muscle, organ, artery, and vein. Fascial dysfunction can lead to misalignments, pain, inflammation, and organ issues. Bowen Therapy rebalances the nervous system, stimulating the body's self-healing mechanisms.

Why Bowen Therapy Works

- Targets Fascia: By addressing fascial dysfunction, Bowen Therapy has a profound impact on pain relief, posture, flexibility, and overall well-being.

- Activates Self-Healing: Gentle moves send signals to the nervous system, initiating a healing response that can help reduce inflammation, stiffness, and organ dysfunction.

- Versatile: Its non-invasive nature makes it suitable for a wide range of clients and conditions.

Introduction

Let me show you some of the thousands of testimonials on this one site of people that have been successfully treated by Bowen Therapy in a huge range of conditions.

Here are my criteria for my ideal therapy if I had a magic wand, and guess what therapy ticks all of those boxes and more

Tom Bowen was an incredible man and would treat 65-100 people a day

Here is your handbook to download so that you have all of the sequences and moves for the treatments

I have just realized that you can change the PDF documents in your resources to word docs with this free tool and then you can modify them if you want to add your own spa name, logos, website etc.

Let me explain to you how this incredible treatment works...well, as best as we know so far

ok, so let me show you how to do the 'Bowen moves'

These are vital in Bowen Therapy, just like we do in acupuncture, once we have done the treatment (a sequence of Bowen moves or as in  acupuncture, put the needles in) we then leave the person for a while so that the body will then respond to the treatment

The peace and tranquility of the treatment room is fundamental to the quality of your treatment as we want the person in the parasympathetic state that the Bowen moves have initiated

The clients can be clothed or not, let then have the choices as comfort is essential

The beauty of being a Bowen therapist is that people from all over the world seek out Bowen Therapy if they move or maybe aromatherapy for natural living on vacations. It is a great boon for your massage business.

As a massage therapist, the added potential to increase your income, help many more clients with so many different conditions that you were unable to help before is limitless

Bowen Therapy is so safe that there are generally no contraindications to worry about.

Join the thousands of students in our Facebook group to ask questions, share stories and learn from others

I have made an entire YouTube music channel that you can check out and use it in your spa/clinic with your clients, or for yourself at home, meditating, or in the car. Anywhere!

Right! Now let's start learning the 3 most famous sequences in Bowen Therapy which are known as the lower back, upper back and neck procedures or basic relaxation moves 1,2 and 3. These 3 sequences will be your start point with your clients

There are a few things that I want you to be aware of as we start on the BRM 1

Now it's time to do the first 4 moves of the lower back procedure. The first 2 moves known as the lower back stoppers are incredibly powerful in their own right.

Now that you have had the 2 minute break, your next moves are performed

These moves are the same as the moves 3 and 4 that you did. Now, see if you can feel any difference in muscular tension from when you first did them. Is there more balance between the two sides? Is there less tension or sensitivity for the client now. This will all tell you that the body has already made changes in rebalancing and loosening the areas

The person should now be on their back and make sure that you do these moves nice and slowly.

And that is the lower back sequence completed. The BRM 1.

I have now given you the BRM 1 review to consolidate the process for you and ways to make it easier for you to practice the BRM 1 sequence

The BRM 1 review

Here is what it looks like with the 2 minute breaks included

It's now time to do the upper back sequence, BRM 2

These 4 moves are great to release the upper back

Now, the next moves have profound loosening and balancing properties between the shoulder blades, neck and upper body fascia

If the upper back is really tight you can repeat the last moves

I always include these moves, they are really powerful as well.

Now these powerful moves to finish the BRM 2 sequence

Let's review all of the moves and locations for the BRM 2 sequence

Here is what it looks like with the 2 minute breaks included with repeating the moves 5-8 for you to practice with

Here is what it looks like with the 2 minute breaks included without repeating the moves 5-8 for you to practice with

Now you should have the person on their back. Remember to release the tendons to finish off the lower back BRM 1 sequence before you do the neck

Now I will show you how to do it on Liam

Here is the full sequence with the 2 minute break to practice to if you need to

Now you have learned the entire BRM 1, 2 and 3 sequences !

Here is a complete review of all of the moves and their locations of BRM 1,2 and 3 for you

If you want to look at your phone or tablet as you do the full sequence, you can use this with the breaks included to help you

This is one of the most powerful lower back procedures in your therapeutic Bowen toolbox

Let's have a close look at the anatomy so that you get the amazing results with your back pain clients.

Here is the sacral procedure for you

Here are some very important factors that I want to explain to you about in treating people.

You can also advance your technique by doing this breathing technique.

Too many ingredients in a recipe is not a good idea.

It is really important to take good notes. Here I explain about this for you

Once you have done the treatment it is also important to explain to your client about possible reactions.

Here I talk about how to effectively promote and build your Bowen business

What happens if you didn't get results?

This will be a common problem that Bowen Therapy can work wonders.

This is a simple but extremely powerful technique for shoulders

You should give your client these exercises to do

Here is the elbow sequence explained

Here I show you how to do it on your client

Now we will look at treating carpal tunnel and the forearm and wrist related pain

Here I show you how to do the procedure on a client

Here is the procedure with the 2 minute breaks so that you can watch it as you do the treatment if you need to

There is quite a lot to learn with this procedure as there are several steps

You will need to practice this to remember the sequence.

This is a powerful treatment to help with all knee problems

Here I show you how to do it on a client

You can watch this and practice with the breaks included

This is also great for lower backs and also of course kidney related disorders, including edema, adrenal burnout and other conditions

Here is the hamstrings procedure

Here is the procedure for back cramps and spasms

Bowen therapy has great results when used for treating headaches and migraines as you can see from the testimonials

This is the respiratory sequence which is great not just for respiratory disorders but also allergies and skin conditions as well as other condition such as anxiety

Because Bowen Therapy has a calming and balancing effect throughout the body, you should recommend that your clients get monthly sessions to keep their bodies in better balance.

What you have learned in this course is just the beginning of your Bowen journey. There is still much more to teach you.

Its time to test your knowledge

Congratulations you have completed the course.
