This course explains the tools and techniques that you need to diagnose why multidimensional and tabular queries might be performing slowly and demonstrates the actions you can take to improve query performance.

When you have users complaining about slow multidimensional and tabular queries, you need to know how to determine where the cause of the problem lies. In this course, Tuning SSAS Models, you will gain the ability to diagnose the source of query performance problems and apply the appropriate techniques to resolve those problems. First, you will discover how to determine whether the query bottleneck is in the formula engine or the storage engine. Next, you will learn whether you need to rewrite queries or modify the multidimensional or tabular model to resolve the query bottleneck. Finally, you will explore how to optimize tabular models for better memory management for query performance - and as a side benefit, this optimization will also benefit processing performance. When you are finished with this course, you will have the skills and knowledge of tuning Analysis Services needed to get the best query performance possible.
