Introduzione alla Storia dell'Architettura Contemporanea

Con un viaggio tra le opere più note di alcuni grandi maestri del Novecento, questo corso offre un punto di vista utile per interpretare le vicende dell’architettura, ovvero dell’arte di costruire spazi per la nostra vita quotidiana.

Il corso si articola in tre settimane, ognuna dedicata all’approfondimento di un tema specifico: la prima settimana presenta i capolavori del Novecento, la seconda ripercorre il lavoro di due maestri della cultura architettonica italiana, la terza conduce nella visita di alcune opere recenti dei maestri contemporanei.

Ogni settimana è articolata in brevi lezioni; al termine di ciascuna viene proposto un quiz per verificare le conoscenze acquisite.

Capolavori del novecento

In questa sezione presentiamo nove capolavori che hanno segnato la storia dell’architettura del Novecento. Tra gli autori dei rispettivi progetti, vi sono i quattro grandi maestri del cosiddetto Movimento Moderno: Frank Lloyd Wright, Charles Eduard Jeanneret, detto Le Corbusier, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Alvar Aalto. Nei nostri commenti ad ogni opera, abbiamo cercato di intrecciare i caratteri della costruzione con il pensiero dell’architetto che li ha progettati.

Due maestri italiani

In questa sezione confrontiamo due maestri italiani del ’900 di grande rilievo, riconosciuti dalla critica internazionale. Da una parte l’architetto milanese Franco Albini, con la sua misurata “arte del porgere” gli oggetti nello spazio, dall'altra Luigi Moretti, con la sua profonda riflessione dedicata ai rapporti tra struttura, forma e spazio. Vedremo esiti sorprendenti, sia nel campo delle figure costruite, sia in quello della teoria dell’architettura.

Viaggi nell'architettura contemporanea

Questa ultima sezione è un viaggio tra gli esempi di architettura contemporanea.Si tratta prevalentemente di spazi per la vita sociale che narrano le memorie del passato e disegnano nuovi luoghi nelle città e nelle campagne. La selezione è parziale e soggettiva, ma rappresenta un invito aperto a chiunque voglia comprendere le ragioni della bellezza. In ogni caso, il commento critico lascia sempre un posto all'esercizio del dubbio, dove protagonista è il Tempo, a cui ogni architetto consegna le proprie geniali fatiche.
