Atención Integrada a las Enfermedades Prevalentes de la Infancia

Este curso está enfocado en la Atención Integrada de las Enfermedades Prevalentes de la Infancia (AIEPI), que es una estrategia desarrollada por la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS) y el Fondo de las Naciones Unidas para la Infancia (UNICEF), presentada en 1996 como la principal estrategia para mejorar la salud infantil. Sobre esta base, la AIEPI se considera actualmente el mecanismo más eficiente para reducir la carga de enfermedad y discapacidad en la población, y contribuir al crecimiento y desarrollo saludables durante los primeros cinco años de vida.

Esta guía está diseñada para ser utilizada por profesionales de la salud que atienden a niños desde el nacimiento hasta los cinco años de edad. Es un proceso de gestión de casos para ser utilizado en un consultorio, centro de salud, departamento ambulatorio de un hospital, clínica ambulatoria o sala de emergencias, en todos los niveles de atención. Las directrices proporcionan instrucciones para evaluar, clasificar y tratar al niño con enfermedades prevalentes, desnutrición y anemia, e identificar otros problemas.
