Solving inequalities
Heads up! This course may be archived and/or unavailable.
Learn how to solve linear inequalities with a single variable. For example, solve -3(x+1)>2x-7. Learn how to solve compound inequalities. For example, solve 2x+1>3 AND -x-5<4.
This course contains 5 segments:
Introduction to inequalities with variables
Algebraic inequalities (inequalities with variables) are useful for describing real-world situations. Learn how to write inequalities and graph them on the number line.
One-step inequalities
Learn how to solve (mathematical) inequalities. A key concept in this tutorial is flipping the inequality sign when multiplying or dividing both sides by a negative number.
Two-step inequalities
Learn how to solve more complex (mathematical) inequalities. Also learn to construct inequalities to model real-world situations.
Multi-step inequalities
Solve any possible linear inequality in one variable. For example, solve -3x-7
Compound inequalities
Learn how to solve compound inequalities. For example, solve 2x+1>3 AND -x-5<4.
