How to Add Your Coursera Certificate to LinkedIn

Not long ago, Coursera had an “Add to LinkedIn” button on its certificate pages. For reasons unclear, that’s now gone.

At the same time, LinkedIn made changes to its site, switching up the process for sharing a certificate. So if you’re scratching your head about sharing your certificate, rest assured, it’s not you.

In this short guide, we’ll walk you through getting your certificate on LinkedIn. You’ll have your certificate ready to show off in just a few minutes.

Locate your certificate details

Before you begin, make sure you have your certificate information in front of you.

If you didn’t save your certificate, you can retrieve it from your Coursera profile. First, visit the Completed Courses section of your profile.

This page lists all of the courses you’ve completed. Click the “Go to course” button next to the course you’re ready to share. This button takes you to a summary page, which includes a “view your certificate” link.

Click this link to pull up your certificate details, which you’ll need for the remainder of this guide.

Note: if you cannot find a “view your certificate” link, it’s possible you may have only audited this course. In this case, you’ll need to pay course fees first to unlock your certificate.

On your LinkedIn profile page

Now that you have your certificate in front of you, login to LinkedIn and navigate to your profile page.

1. Near the top of your profile, click the Add Profile Section button. Then select Background and click the “+” icon next to Licenses and Certificates.

2. Scroll down to the Licenses & Certifications section. Click on the “+” icon to add a new certificate.

2. A box will pop up allowing you to enter your certificate details. Enter the name of the certification name (I’d put the course name here).

3. For Issuing Organization, begin typing “Coursera” or the name of any other learning platform you use. Select the organization that most closely matches what your certificate’s issuer (in this case, Coursera).

4. If you have your certificate number, drop it into the Credential ID box (this is typically not applicable to Coursera certificates). If you wish, you may also copy and paste the link to your certificate under Credential URL. Both of these are optional.

5. Hit "Save" when you’re done or "Save and add another" if you have more certificates to add.

What’s next

That’s it! You’re all set. Colleagues, prospective employers, recruiters, investors, etc. will now be able to see your new certificate.

Now that you’ve got this certificate in the bag, consider shooting for another. OpenCourser makes it easy to browse over 16,000 courses. Finished an intro course just now? Consider searching for intermediate ones next. Or browse our list of most popular courses, updated once weekly.
