Power plants are facilities that generate electricity. They use a variety of fuels, including fossil fuels such as coal, natural gas, and oil, as well as renewable sources such as solar and wind. Power plants play a vital role in our modern society, providing the electricity that we use to power our homes, businesses, and industries.
How Power Plants Work
Power plants work by converting the energy in fuel into electricity. The most common type of power plant is a thermal power plant, which uses heat to generate steam. The steam then drives a turbine, which is connected to a generator that produces electricity. Other types of power plants include hydroelectric power plants, which use the energy of flowing water to generate electricity, and solar power plants, which use the energy of the sun to generate electricity.
