Sensory systems are an essential part of how we experience and interact with the world around us. They allow us to perceive stimuli from our environment, such as light, sound, touch, taste, and smell. These systems are incredibly complex and involve a wide range of specialized cells and structures that work together to detect and process sensory information.
The Five Sensory Systems
There are five primary sensory systems in humans: vision, hearing, touch, taste, and smell. Each of these systems is responsible for detecting a specific type of stimulus. For example, the visual system detects light, the auditory system detects sound, the somatosensory system detects touch, the gustatory system detects taste, and the olfactory system detects smell.
