Nuclear Waste Management
Nuclear waste management is the process of managing and disposing of radioactive materials produced as a byproduct of nuclear power generation and other nuclear processes. These materials can remain radioactive for thousands of years and pose a significant risk to human health and the environment. Nuclear waste management involves a variety of techniques and technologies to safely store, transport, and dispose of these materials.
Types of Nuclear Waste
There are two main types of nuclear waste: high-level waste (HLW) and low-level waste (LLW). HLW is the most radioactive and dangerous type of nuclear waste and is generated by nuclear power plants and other nuclear facilities. LLW is less radioactive and is generated by a variety of sources, including hospitals, research institutions, and nuclear power plants.
