The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) is a division of the National Library of Medicine (NLM), part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). NCBI's mission is to develop new information technologies to aid in the understanding of the molecular basis of disease and the development of new therapeutics. NCBI maintains databases of biomedical and genomic information, including GenBank, PubMed, and BLAST.
