Modbus is a serial communication protocol developed by Modicon in 1979. It is widely used in industrial automation and control systems to connect programmable logic controllers (PLCs), remote terminal units (RTUs), and other devices. Modbus is a simple and inexpensive protocol that is easy to implement and use, making it a popular choice for industrial applications.
