Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is a form of corporate self-regulation integrated into a business model. CSR policy functions as a built-in, self-regulating mechanism whereby a business monitors and ensures its adherence to law, ethical standards, and international norms. Business and society are inextricably connected, and thus the firm has a responsibility to give back to the community. CSR is the belief that businesses have a responsibility to give back to the communities in which they operate. This can be done by investing in social and environmental projects, such as those that promote education, healthcare, or environmental protection.
