Creative Commons (CC) is a global non-profit organization and a set of legal tools that provide creators with a simple, standardized way to grant public permission to share and use their creative work on conditions of their choice. It is not an alternative to copyright; rather, it works alongside copyright, allowing creators to modify copyright terms to best suit their needs. At its core, Creative Commons aims to build a richer, more collaborative, and more accessible public commons of creative and intellectual works that anyone can use and build upon, legally and easily.
