A capstone project, often simply called a capstone, is a project that serves as a culminating experience for a student's academic career. Capstones are most commonly associated with undergraduate and graduate degrees, but they can also be a requirement for high school students and continuing education students. Capstone projects provide students with the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills they have learned throughout their studies and demonstrate their ability to think critically, conduct research, and solve problems. Capstones can take many different forms, but they typically involve a significant research project, a creative performance, or a combination of both.
