Prehistory is the period of human history before the invention of writing systems. It is the longest period of human history, spanning from the emergence of the first hominins over 2 million years ago to the development of writing around 5,000 years ago. Prehistory is divided into three main periods: the Stone Age, the Bronze Age, and the Iron Age.
The Stone Age
The Stone Age is the earliest period of prehistory, lasting from the emergence of the first hominins to the development of bronze metallurgy around 3,000 BC. The Stone Age is further divided into three periods: the Paleolithic, Mesolithic, and Neolithic.
