Parasites are organisms that live on or in a host organism and get their food from or at the expense of their host. Parasites can be classified into two main groups: endoparasites and ectoparasites. Endoparasites live inside the host's body, while ectoparasites live on the host's body. Parasites can cause a wide range of diseases in humans, including malaria, schistosomiasis, and hookworm infection.
Why Study Parasites?
There are many reasons why someone might want to study parasites. Some people study parasites because they are interested in the biology of these organisms. Others study parasites because they want to understand the diseases that they cause and how to prevent and treat them. Still others study parasites because they want to develop new drugs and vaccines to fight these diseases.
