Nursing is a rewarding career that offers the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of others. Nurses provide care and support to patients and their families, helping them through some of the most challenging times in their lives. If you are compassionate, caring, and have a strong desire to help others, then nursing may be the perfect career for you.

What is Nursing?

Nurses are responsible for providing a wide range of care to patients, including assessing their needs, developing and implementing care plans, administering medications, and providing emotional support. They work in a variety of settings, including hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, and schools. Nurses may specialize in a particular area of care, such as pediatrics, geriatrics, or critical care.

How to Become a Nurse

To become a nurse, you will need to complete a nursing program accredited by the National League for Nursing (NLN) or the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN). Nursing programs typically take two to four years to complete, and they include both classroom and clinical experience. Once you have completed a nursing program, you will need to pass the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) to become a licensed nurse.

Skills and Knowledge for Nursing

Nurses need to have a strong foundation in science and math, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. They also need to be able to work independently and as part of a team. Other important skills for nurses include:
