A career as a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Consultant is at the forefront of a groundbreaking movement to create more equitable and diverse workplaces and organizations. As an expert in DEI, you will be responsible for developing and implementing diversity and inclusion strategies that will create positive workplace cultures, increase staff retention, and better business outcomes.

What does a DEI Consultant do?

The main focus of your work as a DEI consultant is to create a diverse workforce and an inclusive work environment. This means that in addition to recruiting and hiring employees from a wide range of backgrounds, you will work to ensure that all employees feel valued and respected regardless of their race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, or any other defining characteristic.

In order to create a diverse workforce, you may work to:

  • Develop and implement recruiting and hiring strategies that reach a diverse pool of candidates
  • Review and revise job descriptions and interview processes to ensure they are free of bias
  • Work with hiring managers to identify and overcome barriers to diversity

In order to create an inclusive work environment, you may work to:

  • Create and implement training programs on diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Facilitate workshops and discussions on diversity-related topics
  • Provide consulting services to managers and executives on how to create and maintain an inclusive work environment

You may also work on projects related to employee retention, leadership development, and organizational culture change.
