If you enjoy sports medicine, you should consider working as a Sports Physician. Sports Physicians are experts in preventing and treating athletic injuries. These are doctors who have completed medical school and further specialized in sports medicine through a fellowship program.

Education

To become a Sports Physician, you need to complete a bachelor’s degree followed by medical school. You will then need to complete a residency program in primary care, such as family medicine, internal medicine, or pediatrics. After completing your residency, you will then need to complete a fellowship in sports medicine.

Responsibilities

As a Sports Physician, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Diagnosing and treating athletic injuries
  • Providing medical care to athletes
  • Developing and implementing injury prevention programs
  • Educating athletes about injury prevention and treatment
  • Working with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to athletes
