Process Development Scientist
Process Development Scientists are responsible for developing and optimizing the manufacturing processes used to produce pharmaceuticals and other products. They work with engineers, chemists, and other scientists to design and implement new and improved processes. Process Development Scientists typically hold a bachelor's or master's degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, or a related field. They must have a strong understanding of the principles of chemistry, engineering, and mathematics. Process Development Scientists must also be able to work independently and as part of a team.
Education and Training
Process Development Scientists typically hold a bachelor's or master's degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, or a related field. They must have a strong understanding of the principles of chemistry, engineering, and mathematics. Some Process Development Scientists also complete a postdoctoral fellowship in order to gain additional research experience.
Job Duties

- Conduct research to develop new and improved manufacturing processes
- Design and implement pilot plants to test new processes
- Troubleshoot problems with existing processes
- Optimize processes to improve efficiency and yield
- Write technical reports and present findings to colleagues and management
