Director of Diversity
The Director of Diversity is an increasingly in-demand role as organizations strive to build more inclusive and equitable workplaces. They are responsible for developing and implementing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, and for ensuring that the organization is meeting its DEI goals. Directors of Diversity typically have a strong understanding of DEI issues, as well as experience in program development, management, and evaluation. They must be able to work effectively with people from all backgrounds and perspectives, and to build consensus among stakeholders.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
No two days are the same for a Director of Diversity. Some of their typical responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives
- Creating and maintaining a culture of respect and inclusion
- Providing training and development on DEI topics
- Partnering with other departments to ensure that DEI goals are met
- Collecting and analyzing data on DEI progress
- Reporting on DEI progress to senior management
