En este curso, que consta de 4 módulos, se aborda el concepto de cambio climático, su impacto, riesgos y acciones que se pueden emplear para su mitigación, específicamente en empresas de agua y saneamiento. En esta línea, se presenta una introducción al financiamiento climático y cómo las empresas pueden obtener financiamiento a partir de proyectos que reflejen beneficios climáticos.

Además, se desarrolla una hoja de ruta centrada en acciones que pueden realizar las empresas de agua y saneamiento para reducir sus emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero. Con el fin de evaluar la huella de carbono, medir la eficiencia energética e identificar oportunidades para mejorar el rendimiento en el sector urbano del agua, se presenta la herramienta Evaluación y Monitoreo del Desempeño Energético y Emisiones de CarbonoECAM (por sus siglas en inglés), la cual permite un enfoque holístico del ciclo urbano del agua.

Parte del material fue producido por el proyecto Water and Wastewater Companies for Climate Mitigation (WaCCliM) (2013-2022), una iniciativa conjunta entre GIZ y la Asociación Internacional del Agua (IWA). Este proyecto formó parte de la Iniciativa Climática Internacional (IKI), financiada por el Gobierno Federal de Alemania.

Módulo 3: Cálculo de emisiones de GEI en empresas de agua y saneamiento
Emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero (GEI) producidas en el sector urbano del agua, y cómo utilizar la herramienta ECAM para analizarlas a fin de identificar oportunidades para reducirlas y mejorar el rendimiento de la empresa.
